Steel Warehouse Building Specifications: Span, Eave Height and Bay Spacing
Xinguangzheng supplies each steel warehouse building as a kit for projects from 3,000 m², and the table below gives the standard supply and the options for every component. Projects below 3,000 m² and turnkey projects that need the supplier to build the foundation and erect the building are not a fit; a locally contracted building is simpler for them. Whether the building is for general storage or for electronics warehouse building construction, a quote starts from three inputs: dimensions, site location and intended use. For showrooms and retail buildings, see metal commercial buildings.

PEMB Warehouse Configurations: Single Span, Multi-Span and Crane Provision
A steel frame warehouse building is framed in Q355B welded H-section and laid out as a single span or a multi-span hall. Choose a single span when racking lanes and forklift routes must stay free of interior columns, and a multi-span layout when interior column lines can work with your racking plan. Clear span and crane tonnage are price drivers, so send both with your dimensions. For production halls, see industrial pre-engineered metal buildings, and for aircraft storage, see hangar for aircraft.

Single clear span
No interior columns cross the width, so racking and forklift routes stay open.

Multi-span
Interior column lines divide the width into several spans, and the layout you receive with the quote shows where they fall.

Crane and mezzanine provision
The quote can provide for a 5 t, 10 t or 20 t overhead crane, and a mezzanine floor can be added.

What Moves the Cost of a Prefab Steel Warehouse
The cost of a prefab steel warehouse depends on span, wind and snow loads, crane tonnage and local code, with insulation, doors, windows and a mezzanine adding to the scope. Every building is engineered to its site, so the price is confirmed in your quote rather than published as a rate. A cold storage building costs more than a standard warehouse because of insulated panels and refrigeration, and it is quoted per project. Anchor bolt supply is confirmed in your quote.
| Cost driver | What it changes in the quote |
|---|---|
| Span | Clear spans up to 60 m are standard, and wider halls up to 100 m are engineered per project |
| Wind and snow loads | High wind and snow zones call for a heavier frame and closer purlin spacing |
| Crane tonnage | Provision can be made for a 5 t, 10 t or 20 t overhead crane |
| Local code | Loads, spans and coatings are engineered to the code that applies at your site |
| Insulation | Roof and wall options run from 0.5 mm profiled sheet to EPS, rock wool or PU sandwich panel |
| Doors, windows and mezzanine | The quote follows the number of doors and windows and whether a mezzanine floor is added |

Design Codes and Documents for Warehouse Prefabricated Buildings
Warehouse prefabricated buildings from Xinguangzheng are designed to the code set by the destination country and the project engineer, for example AISC 360, EN 1993, AS 4100, AS/NZS 1170 or GB 50017. These are design codes, not certificates, and loads, spans and coatings are engineered to the code that applies at your site. Structures are designed for a 50-year service life, with maintenance as set out in the maintenance manual.
- AISC 360
- EN 1993
- AS 4100
- AS/NZS 1170
- GB 50017
Loads are engineered to the code that applies at your site, and high wind and snow zones get a heavier frame and closer purlin spacing. Column base reaction data is provided so your local engineer can design the foundation.

Manufacturing and Quality Checks for Steel Warehouse Buildings
Our steel structures are manufactured by Qingdao Xinguangzheng Steel Structure Co., Ltd. (NEEQ: 834422). The company is an AISC Certified Building Fabricator (Complex Coating F1). It is certified by the Canadian Welding Bureau to CSA W47.1 Division 1 and holds EN 1090 (CE), EAC (GOST 23118-2019), ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification. Cut and weld
We cut plate on laser cutting machines and weld with welding robots, using Q355B for the main frame.
Ultrasonic testing and coating thickness
Main welds are tested by ultrasonic testing (UT) and coating thickness is measured before a steel structure building warehouse leaves the factory.
Blast and prime
Steel is blast cleaned to Sa2.5 and primed with epoxy zinc-rich primer on an automated coating line, and hot-dip galvanizing is optional.
Reports before the balance payment
We send the UT report and photos before you pay the balance, and third-party inspection is welcome.

Steel Warehouse Building FAQ
What is a steel warehouse building?
A steel warehouse building from Xinguangzheng is a prefabricated steel kit: primary and secondary steel, roof and wall panels and accessories, engineered for your project and exported. Your local contractor builds the foundation and erects it. Single clear spans reach up to 60 m as standard, and wider halls are engineered per project.
What is the minimum order size for a steel warehouse building?
Projects start at 3,000 m². Smaller buildings and projects that need the supplier to build the foundation and erect the building on a turnkey contract are outside this supply, which covers the steel kit only. Send your dimensions, site location and intended use, and the quote confirms whether your project fits.
How wide can a steel warehouse building span?
Single-span halls without interior columns are made up to 60 m wide as standard, and spans up to 100 m are engineered project by project. Multi-span layouts use interior column lines instead. Eave height runs from 6 to 12 m and can be raised, and bay spacing of 6–9 m can follow your racking layout.
What is included in the quote, and what is not?
The quote covers the steel structure, roof and wall panels, gutters and downspouts, bolts and accessories, shop drawings, the installation manual, export packing and a container loading plan. Foundation, on-site erection, sea freight, customs clearance and duties, insurance and permits are excluded. Optional extras include insulation, a crane track system and on-site erection guidance.
What affects the cost of a steel warehouse building?
Spans beyond 60 m are engineered individually, and a 5 t, 10 t or 20 t crane adds provision to the quote. Roof and wall options run from 0.5 mm profiled steel sheet to EPS, rock wool or PU sandwich panel. Send these with your dimensions and the quote itemizes them.
How long do production and delivery take?
Production takes 15–40 days depending on tonnage, confirmed in your quote. The whole project, from consultation and 3D design approval through fabrication to local erection, usually runs 4–12 weeks. Sea transit time is confirmed for your destination port in the quote, because it depends on the port.
What are the payment terms, and can I inspect before paying the balance?
Payment is by T/T or L/C, with a 30% deposit and the remaining 70% paid before shipment. Before you pay the balance, the ultrasonic testing (UT) report on the main welds is sent together with photos, and third-party inspection is welcome.
Who builds the foundation and erects the building?
Your local contractor designs and builds the foundation and erects the building, because on-site work is outside the quote. Column base reaction data for the foundation design, an installation manual and free remote guidance are provided, and on-site erection guidance is an option.
Where have you supplied steel warehouse buildings?
Xinguangzheng has supplied a warehouse in Australia and a pharmaceutical warehouse in Algeria. Project area and year are not published on this page, so ask for details when you send your RFQ. See the delivered projects for this building type.
