Prefab steel hangars

Prefab Steel Aircraft Hangars

We manufacture steel aircraft hangars as prefab aircraft hangar kits: steel frame, roof and wall panels and accessories, with foundation and erection done locally. Clear span depends on the project: 60 m is standard, and up to 100 m is engineered. Projects start at 3,000 m².

Send your hangar’s width, length, eave height and site country, and we return a free layout, specification and itemized quote for projects from 3,000 m².

Specifications

Aircraft Hangar Frame Specifications: Span, Eave Height and Components

A steel hangar from Xinguangzheng starts from the frame ranges in the table below, which are the parent-product ranges shared with a metal warehouse building or a workshop steel structure. The table is not an aircraft fit chart, and it lists no door or clearance values. Quote inputs are the dimensions, site location and intended use.

Metal Airplane Hangars: Single Span, Multi-Span and Crane Provision

An airplane hangar structure is framed either as a single span with no interior columns or as a multi-span hall with interior column lines. A single span up to 60 m is standard, and a wider single span is engineered for the project. This page does not tabulate aircraft sizes, door types or clearances.

Single clear span

No interior columns cross the width of the frame, so the floor inside stays open.

Multi-span

Interior column lines divide the width into several spans, and the layout you receive with the quote shows where they fall.

Cost drivers

Aircraft Hangar Buildings: What Drives the Cost

Aircraft hangar steel buildings are quoted to their own drawings, and this page lists the drivers without publishing a rate. Projects below 3,000 m², and turnkey projects that need the supplier to build the foundation and erect the hangar, are not a fit for this kit supply; a locally contracted building is simpler for them. Insulation, a crane track system, facade design and on-site erection guidance are optional, and anchor bolt supply is confirmed in your quote.

Cost driverWhat moves the number
Clear spanClear spans up to 60 m are standard, and wider hangars up to 100 m are engineered per project
Wind and snow loadsHigh wind and snow zones call for a heavier frame and closer purlin spacing, set by the local code
Crane tonnageProvision can be made for a 5 t, 10 t or 20 t overhead crane
InsulationRoof and wall options run from 0.5 mm profiled sheet to EPS, rock wool or PU sandwich panel; for temperature-controlled storage see a cold storage building
Doors and windowsThe quote follows the door and window count
MezzanineA mezzanine floor added to the layout adds to the scope

Engineering

Metal Hangar Building Design Codes and Loads

A metal hangar building from Xinguangzheng is designed to the code set by the destination country and the project engineer. These are design codes, not certificates, and the list below shows the codes in common use.

  • AISC 360
  • EN 1993
  • AS 4100
  • GB 50017

Loads are engineered to the code that applies at your site, and AS/NZS 1170 covers design loading for Australia and New Zealand. High wind and snow zones get a heavier frame and closer purlin spacing. Fire and building requirements follow the local authority, and the final design of structure, services and civil works is confirmed by the local professional for your project.

Quality

Steel Aircraft Hangars: Manufacturing and Quality Control

We manufacture the frames under an ISO 9001:2015 quality system, in four factories with 12 production lines and 150,000 m² of factory space, at an annual capacity of up to 150,000 tonnes of steel structures. Our steel structures are manufactured by Qingdao Xinguangzheng Steel Structure Co., Ltd. (NEEQ: 834422). The company is certified by the Canadian Welding Bureau to CSA W47.1 Division 1 and holds EN 1090 (CE), EAC (GOST 23118-2019), ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification. It also holds China’s Grade I qualifications for steel structure manufacturing and steel structure engineering contracting, and certificate copies are available on request.

  1. Cutting and welding

We cut plate on laser cutting machines and weld with welding robots, using Q355B welded H-section for the main frame.

  2. Weld testing

Main welds are tested by ultrasonic testing (UT), and coating thickness is measured before the steel leaves the factory.

  3. Blast and prime

Steel is blast cleaned to Sa2.5 and primed with epoxy zinc-rich primer on an automated coating line, and hot-dip galvanizing is optional.

  4. Check before final payment

The UT report and photos reach you before you pay the balance, and third-party inspection is welcome.

From Steel Hangar Brief to Container Loading

  1. Requirements

Send width, length and eave height, site country and city, single or multi-span, and any crane, insulation, door, window and mezzanine needs.

  2. Quotation

A free layout, specification and itemized quote for your prefab airplane hangar comes first, and it states what is in and out of the supply.

  3. Design and fabrication

The Tekla 3D model goes to you for approval, and cutting starts only after approval. Production takes 15–40 days depending on tonnage, confirmed in your quote.

  4. Export and support

Steel goes on steel pallets with an export packing and container loading plan, from Qingdao Port, about 1.5 hours from the factory. Transit time is confirmed for your destination port, a whole project usually takes 4–12 weeks, and on-site erection is not in the quote.

FAQ

Steel Aircraft Hangar Questions

What is the minimum order size for steel aircraft hangars?

Steel aircraft hangars start at 3,000 m². Smaller buildings, and projects that need the supplier to build the foundation and erect the hangar under a turnkey contract, are outside this supply, which covers the steel kit only. Send your dimensions, site location and intended use, and the quote confirms whether your project fits.

What is included in a steel aircraft hangar quote, and what is not?

The quote covers the steel structure, roof and wall panels, gutters and downspouts, bolts, accessories, shop drawings, the installation manual, export packing and a container loading plan. Foundation, on-site erection, sea freight, customs clearance and duties, taxes, insurance, permits and site preparation are excluded. Insulation, a crane track system and erection guidance are options.

How wide a clear span can a prefab aircraft hangar have?

A single span without interior columns reaches 60 m as standard, and spans up to 100 m are engineered project by project. Multi-span layouts use interior column lines instead, and eave height runs from 6 to 12 m and can be raised on request.

Which design codes do you use for hangar structures?

The code is set by the destination country and the project engineer, and AISC 360, EN 1993, AS 4100, AS/NZS 1170 and GB 50017 are in common use. These are design codes, not certificates. Fire and building requirements follow the local authority, and the final design is confirmed by the local professional.

How long does delivery take for a metal hangar building?

Production takes 15–40 days depending on tonnage, confirmed in your quote. The whole project, from consultation and 3D design approval through fabrication to local erection, usually runs 4–12 weeks. Steel ships from Qingdao Port, and sea transit time is confirmed for your destination port in the quote.

How are payments structured, and can the welds be inspected before the balance is due?

Payment is by T/T or L/C, with a 30% deposit and the remaining 70% paid before shipment. Before you pay the balance, the ultrasonic testing (UT) report on the main welds is sent together with photos, and third-party inspection is welcome.

Who builds the foundation and erects the hangar?

Your local contractor designs and builds the foundation and erects the hangar, because on-site work is outside the quote. Column base reaction data for the foundation design, an installation manual and free remote guidance are provided, and on-site erection guidance is an option.

Has Xinguangzheng supplied an aircraft hangar before?

Xinguangzheng has supplied an aircraft hangar in Australia. Project area and year are not published on this page, so ask for details when you send your request, and name the building type and destination country you are considering. See the delivered projects for this building type.
